Bryan Evans

Waycross, GA

I am the drummer and Director of Discipleship at Waynesville Church of God. My wife and I are also Children's Pastors there. I served as the volunteer Youth Pastor from 2010-2011, when I assumed my current responsibilities.

My wife, Ashley, and I were married on June 25, 2011, in Blackshear, GA, after dating for 7 years. I am still in love with her just as much as (if not more than) when our relationship began. She is my best friend and I have absolutely no idea where I'd be without her and God for having led me to her.

My absolute favorite hobby/passion is playing the drums. Besides currently being a member of the praise team at WCOG, I have been the drummer for 2 bands. The first was a praise and worship band from Waycross, GA, called LED (Light Emitting Disciples). We played together from August 2007 to April 2010 all over South Georgia, from Attapulgus to Metter to Folkston and all points in-between. More recently, I was in a Progressive Southern Gospel group from Jesup, GA, called Allegiance from May 2011 until January 2012.

Music has been a way of life for me for quite some time now, beginning band in 5th grade, playing trombone through middle school and into high school. While at Ware County High School, I made a slight change to BASS trombone because I had an unusually low range (playing tuba parts at times). On bass trombone, I was a soloist in marching band, helped the jazz band to win 2 Grand Championships at Orlando, FL, and New Orleans, LA (the latter, I even received special recognition from the judges). I made All-District all 4 years (2003-2006), All-Region (which began in 2005) in 2005 and 2006, All-District Jazz Band in 2005 and 2006, and missed All-State in 2006 by one placement. I also attended college at Valdosta State University, where I marched in the Blazin' Brigade and was a member of the Trombone Choir in 2006.

I began playing drums in 2002 on a Pearl Export Series set with Zildjian cymbals at World Harvest Church of God, played a similar set at University Blvd Church of God from 2006-2010, and purchased my current set (the first set I actually owned), Mapex Horizon with Zildjian ZBT hi-hats and Sabian B8 thin crashes, in 2010, after moving to Waynesville Church of God.

Currently, I am working on getting a band off the ground (called For the Taking) with my brother, Brett, on lead guitar and my wife, Ashley, doing the vocal work. We are on Facebook and ReverbNation.
