Bryan Monroe

Bryan Monroe was the Washington Editor, Opinion & Commentary at CNN. He was also the editor of CNNPolitics.com. Monroe led the editorial planning and content strategy for CNN's political coverage on the digital, online & mobile platforms from the network’s D.C. bureau. Before joining CNN, he was a Visiting Professor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and the CEO of The Monroe Media Group. Bryan has been the Vice President and Editorial Director of EBONY and JET Magazines at Johnson Publishing Company and has contributed to ongoing coverage for CNN. Formerly the assistant vice president/news of Knight Ridder and the president of the National Association of Black Journalists, Bryan helped lead the team that won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Hurricane Katrina. Bryan conducted the first interview with President-elect Barack Obama and the last interview with the late Michael Jackson.
