Bryan Troupe
I am the oldest of three siblings, one brother and one sister. My sister was the first in my family to graduate college and currently has an awesome job working for the government. I am currently a sophomore and intend to graduate in the summer of 2012 with a B.A. in Public Administration. I want to continue my education until I get a Masters Degree. F.I.U. has a wonderful program set up which allows students to obtain their Master's Degree in Public Administration and J.D. Law Degree simultaneously, taking about three years, but I am still still undecided if I want to remain in college that long. I want to learn everything that this class has to offer. I know that is a rather vague answer, but I am extremely interested right now in creating social programs which can improve living conditions in inner city communities - particularly in education. I want to create a program that can help children in disadvantaged communities get the education that they deserve, which will over time help to decrease the crime rate, high teen pregnancy rate, and high amount of drug use that is so prevalent in these communities. That is only some of what I want do - I hope to be able to do a lot more.
I currently intern with a nonprofit organization, Catalyst Miami, and am gaining a tremendous amount of experience. I also have a full time job with a health insurance company selling health insurance. In five years I hope to be the founder of programs which have made significant changes to our city's landscape and maybe immersed in influential political career. I want this class to be able to give me inspiration, ideas, and leadership skills to be able to build a legacy and make a difference in a multitude of people's lives.
