I had a chance to study abroad when I was still in school and spent a short period of time in London as a result. That gave me the itch to travel even more since graduation and I’m hoping to find my way back to Europe again in the future.
My other hope is to work my way to the West Coast as part of a larger trip through all 50 states. Hopefully that means taking a road trip most of the way through the United States as I want to try and unearth small-town diners and festivals along the way. I also want to make sure I’m able to see some novelties along the way; things like the largest ball of yarn and things like that. I want to be able to experience everything America has to offer as I drive around.
That’s going to take a pretty big commitment in terms of time and I’m building my way to figuring out exactly how to make the trip. It’s exciting to think about and I’m looking forward to taking that first step soon.
In the meantime I keep myself busy with all sorts of stuff. I love doing different projects that I find on Pinterest and taking advantage of the summer weather in Buffalo by getting out on my bike whenever possible.
Unfortunately it’s a little too hard to ride my bike to work on a daily basis, so that’s something that needs to wait for the nights and weekends. In the office, I enjoy how rewarding and hectic things can be. I say hectic because my favorite time is in the days leading up to class.
Just like each and every one of my students, I get excited and even experience jitters as classes are about to start. I love being able to help students to that point because it’s the start of something great. I love hearing about the goals and aspirations of my students and those first days of class are often a big part of that process, being able to be supportive during that time is incredible rewarding, no matter how hectic it may be.
