Brieanna Scolaro is a Licensed Social Worker in New York City (LMSW). She serves as the Director of Community Relations at Behavioral Associates, an outpatient mental health firm in New York City, where she facilitates program development, community outreach, event planning and social media campaigning. Brieanna additionally serves as an independent consultant for a portfolio of 5-7 individuals / companies, where she focuses on strategic planning, R&D and implementation regarding business development and marketing.

She has special expertise in personal and professional development and human rights, in particular LGBTI issues. She served as the Communications Director for the LGBT Freedom and Asylum Network (LGBT-FAN), a national coalition dedicated to helping people who are seeking safety in the United States because of persecution based on sexual orientation or gender identity in their home countries. While in graduate school, Brieanna interned at theUniversalist Unitarian United Nations Office, where she focused on programming and advocacy for LGBTI asylum seekers, both inside and outside of the United Nations community.

In the summer of 2015, she served as a Duke Humanitarian Action Fellow at the International Organization for Migration in Geneva, Switzerland. There, she focused on IOM Shelter and Camp Coordination/Camp Management operations for internally displaced persons as a result of natural disasters or conflict.

She was awarded a Bronze Congressional Medal for serving 10 months as an Americorps NCCC FEMA Corps member and has additional experience with the National Relief Network, Jewish Family and Vocational Services of Middlesex County, and the National Student Leadership Conference. She has led and supported 10 disaster relief projects across the United States, including New Orleans (Katrina), North Carolina (Irene), and New Jersey (Sandy). She has experience responding to disasters at the local, community and federal level, as well as facilitating discussions on the linkage between disaster relief and social justice.
