UX Team Lead in Manchester, United Kingdom

I Started my creative journey when I worked for a 'New Media Agency' the Graphic Palette, since those early days I have always been interested in the darker side of design... What makes people think and how to design something that is not only beautiful but also allows them to use and not think.

To me design is not just colours and shapes, it's the emotion that the user feels and journey that the project takes from paper to screen to web.

My varied career has enabled me to work on behalf of some of the UK's hugest retail names, like Orange, Three, zavvi and Nintendo just to mention a few.

I have had the luxury of holding many different possitions from hamlet coder in my early days to Head of UX and PO roles which has brought different challenges, users, customers and ways of working to enable me to streamline a toolkit of processes and tools which enable me to rapidly visualise concepts and ideas.

User testing is the cornerstone of this toolkit. Weather informally doing this myself or being part of a more structured UX Research process, it is always the best way to validate your ideas and assumptions.

Another 'tool' is quanta time data which helps build a more rounded version of what you perceive the problem is.

And that is one of the core though process, it's about finding the problem first and exploring what the solution could be, not creation a solution and trying to find a problem it can fix.
