I have a passion for sports and for helping others. I have been able to combine both of these passions into valuable community service experience as a youth baseball coach.
I coached 7 seasons of youth baseball in the Acton Boxborough Youth Baseball organization, as both an assistant and head coach. This was a very valuable experience for me because I was able to help my community and grow as a leader.
Coaching youth baseball taught me many valuable lessons that enhanced my leadership and communication skills. In one instance, I created a team-building drill that helped to incorporate some of the outcast players into the core of the team. By creating a challenge in which completion required contributions from all team members, I created a more supportive and inclusive team environment. When the team became a more cohesive unit, they played better, had more fun, and won more games. This experience as a coach taught me that, as a leader, I can improve a team's performance by positively influence group morale.
My major area of study is finance, and I hope to pursue a career in either corporate finance or investment banking. However, as a hobby, I look forward to coaching my future childrens' sports teams.
