Bob Sievers
Manhattan beach
My name is Bob Sievers. I am a Southern California native. I grew up in the Pacific Palisades and attended Pali High. In high school, I played sports and was involved in civic organizations and graduated near the top of my class. After graduating from Pali High, I got my degree in business/finance at USC. During my time in college, I worked on the floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange. Immediately upon graduating in 1984, I went to work as market maker in NASDAQ listed stocks. I quickly became a high profile trader on Wall Street. Over the years, I became a senior VP of trading at Jefferies & Co. I negotiated trades well in excess of 100 million dollars. I was also responsible for determining valuations for various companies and assets. In 2001, while still in the securities business, I began investing in shopping centers and residential income properties. I gained a great deal of experience from the investment side of the business. While running a hedge fund, I identified the massive over leverage in the economy and correctly predicted the 2007-2009 meltdown. I sold all of my real estate holdings other than my home. 2008 was the best year of my career as I was short real estate related securities. In 2009, I decided to leave the stress of Wall Street behind. My oldest child had a life threatening illness and it was a perfect time to stop working and tend to my son. He thankfully recovered and is now a senior at UC Santa Cruz. After spending a great deal of time golfing and surfing I realized that I was too young and too driven for retirement. Wall Street had become marginalized by computer algorithms and carried a lot of stress with it. Having an extensive background in real estate and being someone who really enjoys working with people, I made a second career as an agent for Shorewood Realtors in Manhattan Beach. This made perfect sense as I moved to Manhattan Beach in 1989 where I was married and raised 3 boys. I was extremely involved with my kids. From coaching little league to teaching them my passion for music and surfing, they have been at the center of my life. I am proud to see them grow and move to college. I still have one son who attends Mira Costa High. I am presently working as an agent with Shorewood and enjoy helping people meet their needs. I still surf as often as I can and have traveled all over the world with my sons who also share my passion.
