Patterns are what I live for. Little abstractions of reality. They store data in ingeneous ways. Patterns are models. They can be executed in our brains and provide answers.

They can be deceiving as well. When I look at Homer Simpson's face, I see a human; it looks nothing like a human though. Art, I believe, experiments with that. Science and engineering tries to avoid that. That is why art is fun, science is dull.

As a person, trying very hard to control the chaos of life around himself, I choose science over art. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy art, I just enjoy it cautiously.
