Bar Asherov
Head of Enterprise Sales in Washington, DC
I was born in Israel, raised in Kenya, and I currently live in Washington D.C.
I began my career in crisis communications and public affairs, leading the team in charge of working with the international press for the Israel Defense Forces. My team created and implemented strategic communication plans for various events, including the Turkish flotilla in 2010, and 'Operation Pillar of Defense' in 2012. I also helped launch the IDF into social media in 2010. After nearly five years of service, including graduating at the top of my class in officer school, I moved into the private sector.
I used my experience in public affairs and communication skills, combined with an MBA from The George Washington University, to expand my leadership skills. During my MBA, I held leadership positions in two student organizations, including President of the Marketing Club and VP of Public Relations for the MBA Association Board.
After completing my MBA, I joined the media intelligence software company Meltwater, beginning my career in sales. I was successful as both an individual contributor and manager, consistently ranking in the top 10% of the sales organization.
In order to focus on my passion for working with the public sector, I joined Hootsuite, where I led state and local government sales in the US and Canada. I was successful in expanding and acquiring new accounts, including NYC, the Port Authority of NY/NJ, and many others, putting me in the top 5% of the sales organization.
Recognizing the growing need for state and local governments to improve trust and inclusivity within their communities, I joined Zencity. I combine my passion for working with the public sector, focusing on our largest cities, counties, and law enforcement agencies globally. In 2022 I tripled the number of customers in our enterprise segment from 2021. Including notable cities such as London Metropolitan Police, San Diego, Chicago, and Louisville.
I’m curious about new tech, ranging from generative AI to mobility (driverless vehicles) and across media and news landscape.
