Bill Bush

Shanghai, China

From our early days of marriage when Bill used to take me camping, we always knew we would come back some day to live in Wallowa County, but it’s been a long time coming!

As international teachers, we have lived in Osaka, Japan where we met, got engaged and survived the Great Hanshin Earthquake -- but not necessarily in that order. We traveled to Niger at the edge of the Sahara Desert and decided to have Gabe-- hey, there’s not much to do there except ride camels.

We saw capitalism come to post-communist Latvia, experienced the beauty and sorrow of Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. Currently we are teaching in Shanghai, China, one of the largest and fastest changing cities in the world. Hey, we’ve even lived in this exotic city called Portland (Oregon).

Through all of these amazing places however, the words of Dorothy echo in our thoughts, “There’s no place like home...” and that’s Wallowa County for us!
