Julia Pak

Hi! My name is Julia and I'm a rising senior. I'm involved in student council, play golf, but most importantly, I love music. I've been playing the viola, a stringed instrument that resembles a large violin, for about 11 years and I attend the Juilliard Pre-College in NYC, where I take private lessons, play in orchestra, and learn about music theory, on Saturdays.Science has repeatedly shown the beneficial effects of classical music, from increased focus to mind relaxation and I've experienced the joys of it myself with learning, playing, and listening to it. However, I find that many times the opportunities to listen and watch classical music performances are quite often expensive and time consuming; the tickets to many professional concerts range from 75 to +250 dollars and often last from 2 to 4 hours. Because of these factors, many people are not exposed to the timely melodies of instrumental, classical music. During the summer of 2015, my last in Bergen County, my mission is to spread my appreciation of the viola to others who are not obligated or burdened to pay money or spend time listening; they simply are listening and (hopefully) enjoying the music I am playing. This blog will capture the events and places that I play at and all are welcomed to view the videos/photos I post. Thanks!
