Our measure of who we are or Our I-ness is determined by how we compare to others in the tribe, or by how large a tribe we can create.
The social equivalent to breathing is like the existence of a tribe. It is like an involuntary process that creates social order. Where we live, what we do for work, and our hobbies are defined by association with a tribe that represent a certain activity and attitude. Busy buffalos is a tribe of like minded philosophy encompassing the 8 limbs of yoga.
My observation is that successful people have learned to define their own place in the social order. Like controlling their breath, they have learned to transcend this involuntary process and utilize the tribe to create a community of one by focussing on unity and consistent self examination.
But how does an enlightened yogi do that?
What is the first step?
It seems that there is usually a trigger event. A success or tragedy that causes people to stop and focus on what is truly important to them. Some people emerge from a traumatic event better off than before it, and others do not. We at busy buffalos Like to call this “Adversarial growth” Kind of the opposite of PTSD.
So how does this affect our interaction with our tribes?
They themselves would be the one to approach you as ones attracted to the changes brought about by the product in your very life.
People today are no longer drawn by promotion but by demonstration. Stop trying to sell something! The product or service which enables people to experience a life transforming altercation will be you advocate of the future.
