I’d always known that I had a knack for being in the kitchen. I was always there in my free time, watching my mom, my grandma, and my dad whip up all of my favorite dishes. I would always watch their every move in the kitchen, making note of what they were doing and why they were doing it. That was the start of my journey into baking and cooking, which is now an integral part of my life. I could never imagine my life without baking, and I’ve had a lot of experiences, both good and bad.

My journey started when I was six years old, hounding my mom to join her in the kitchen and cook with her. I started by chopping vegetables for her, taking hours and hours just to cut three carrots. Although I had many cuts on my fingers, I learned a lot about patience, as it took me a long time to learn the art of chopping. I continued chopping vegetables for my mom for years, and eventually, I was able to chop the same three carrots in fifteen minutes. I eventually started cooking and baking dishes on my own, but it initially did not go smoothly as well.

My first time baking started off smoothly but ended a disaster. I was baking orange cupcakes and I had followed the recipe exactly. I was so excited for my family to try my creation for the first time. However, after tasting it, their faces showed disgust. I was shocked, as I was certain that it would come out well. It turned out that I had added salt to the cupcakes rather than sugar. It was a rookie mistake, as salt and sugar were commonly mixed. But through this experience, I learned more about baking, and that there was more to it than just following a recipe.

Now, after years of practice, I can confidently say that I have become a better baker and chef in the kitchen. I love making food from scratch and giving it to my family and friends. Being in the kitchen has become a part of me and a passion of mine. Regardless of how I am feeling, I can always rely on baking or cooking to lift my spirits and make my day better. With even more years ahead of me, I hope to learn and grow more from this passion of mine.
