Vitaliy Buzoverya
Collector, expert, and Writer in Saint Petersburg
Horology has been my passion since 2000, with a special focus on Soviet-era watches from the 1960s and 70s — a time of bold engineering and design. My journey began as a tribute to my father, who worked at the Raketa Watch Factory. After the factory closed, I started collecting Soviet timepieces to preserve that legacy. My collection has grown to about 150 watches, each telling its own story. I explore the history behind the USSR’s watch industry, the role of the watchmaker, and the cultural meaning behind these objects. I’m also drawn to the wider world of Soviet aesthetics — from film and music to architecture and theater. Flea markets are more than just a hobby for me — they’re places of memory and discovery. Through social media and my blog, I document what I find and think, hoping to connect with others who appreciate Soviet heritage. I live in Saint Petersburg, on Vasilievsky Island.
