A visual learner who always gravitated to technology, I was bored in schools filled with textbooks. I found myself in my 20’s working for Atari and loving every minute of it. I realized that if school had only been this fun, I would have gotten so much more out of it. I am a tinker and a technologist, and determined to show educators how these tools can change teaching and learning. Ironically, I am surrounded by educators in my personal life. My mother was a teacher, both my sisters teachers and I even married an educator whose comes from a whole family of teachers herself. Meeting her only made my passion grow as we both shared a common goal of bringing these tools to mainstream education.
I’ve been fortunate to work for some amazing technology companies. Many of which are trying to engage the education market including - Radius, Epson, Apple, Leapfrog, Pearson and Polyvision. Although I have always been in professional sales roles, I see myself more as a partner to schools - always trying to determine their challenges and developing a solution to assist them in meeting their needs and goals. Of course, technology is always part of that solution, as it engages students in the process.
At the end of the day, my goal is to help all children reach their greatest potential and discover new things. I believe that is what schools wish for as well. But if we want to reach these children, technology needs to be part of the equation. For the visual learner, I can't imagine any other way.
