I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised in the countryside near Mars, Pennsylvania. I subsequently attended the University of Pittsburgh, Colorado State University, the University of Hawai'i, and Adam Mickiewicz University, specialising in Intercultural Philosophy. I hold a B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Asian and Comparative Intercultural Philosophy, a Master's from Adam Mickiewicz University in Linguistics and Information Science, and a post-graduate diploma in Interlinguistics. I have taught languages for most of my life, including English, Latin, Esperanto, and Classical Chinese. I have done my research principally in intercultural philosophy and comparative mysticism, as well as ethics and political philosophy. My master's thesis was concerned with the rule-guided nature of Sanscrit as a model for planned languages. My published books include How to Talk to Americans: English Situational Dialogues (Crane Books, Taipei, 2 editions), and Autumni Silesiaci: Haicua Latina (Pallas Silesia, Katowice 2001).
I have worked for most of my life for the causes of Abortion Rights, Taiwan Independence, Vegetarianism, Tibetan Independence, Human Rights, and Jewish Self-determination. I have also been a strong advocate of space colonisation.
I served as one of the initiators and primary organisers of the first Earth Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and have served as acting Coördinator of (Ralph Nader's) Western Pennsylvania Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) and Pennsylvania Environmental Action/Zero Population Growth, have served as Treasurer of L'Association Internationale d'Étude des Enseignements Spirituels et Théologiques. and was a co-founder (in Valencia, Spain) and first President of the Universal Tao Study League, Esperantist. As a vegetarian for over forty years, I am a distributor of materials for the Quaker Vegetarians publishing The Peaceable Table, as well as a long-term member of the Tutmonda Esperantista Vegetara Asocio (World-wide Esperantist Vegetarian Association).
Currently I am working mostly with the establishment of a Quaker worship group in Poznan, Poland, and with the Pagan Federation International, as well as studying druidism. Since January of 2011 I have been a herald of the Knighthood of Purity, a spiritual chivalric order established by the Sufi Order International.
