Benjamin Yarmis
New York Metro Area
I am a recent graduate with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with an Aerospace concentration from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Over the past two summers, I have interned at Middle River Aircraft Systems, a GE Aviation subsidiary, in Baltimore, MD. There, their main product is thrust reversers for jet engines.
Two summers ago, I was a Manufacturing Intern in the CF-6 line. Using Lean Manufacturing methods, I reduced fastener shortages and restructured the small-parts storage and retrieval system, changing from a push layout to a pull one.
This past summer, I was a Materials and Processing Intern, working on several product lines. After getting acquainted with the workflow and structure of composite sandwich cores, I assisted with certifications and specifications of existing products, new product certifications, patent applications, and initial investigations into additively manufactured core.
In my free time, I love to design for and tinker with my 3-D printer. I have built a Makerbot Thing-O-Matic from a kit. After using that for a year, I upgraded that to a Solidoodle 2 printer. I've designed and printed various senior design projects for my friends from school and enjoyed the various challenges each and every time.
I am currently looking for a carreer in the mechanical or aerospace engineering fields.
