Great brands are made of great products crafted around an authentic story, supported by seasoned management, and told by marketers who understand the craft of storytelling. I am an experienced storyteller with an entrepreneurial spirit who has a passion for pop-culture, marketing and consumer engagement.
Through my professional lenses I endeavor to align brand messaging with the complicated mosaic that reflects our society today. I strive to build on stories that echo our hopes, dreams and at times, ease our fears. I tell stories, often collaborating with a team of professionals that must continue to ask the question, “What if?”
Today marketing and all it’s tentacles is a pivotal role for any organization; complex and layered and yet each day has one simple, lofty goal: to bring the story of a brand and its offerings with integrity and great value to the world. It requires an action-based marketing professional; someone like me. I am a pro-active communications and brand marketing executive, who has spent over 20 years directing and managing the public relations, brand and integrated marketing communications, advertising/branding, media strategy, online and social media platforms, cause marketing and volunteerism functions for various brands and clients in the fast-paced worlds of fashion, media and entertainment; businesses that require you hit the ground running and leave little room for error, as many of the programs, projects and initiatives are often time sensitive with a real finite shelf life.
For just under a year, I served as Head of Public Relations, Special Projects and Social Media, for the publicly traded fashion brand and multi-channel retailer, Caché (NASDAQ: CACH) and their 230 stores located throughout the U.S., Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. I was responsible for internal communications and marketing strategy to support all media efforts, celebrity outreach, special projects and online messaging platforms. I was successful in directing and managing all public relations, special projects (design collaborations, fragrance launch & 3rd party partnerships) and social media platforms in an effort to engage new consumers and create a more seamless brand experience.
My position with Caché came on the heels of my serving as independent brand and integrated marketing and communications consultant with Tina Knowles Productions to provide ideation, initiative development and communications to align Beyoncé’s cause-marketing and charitable initiative with her hugely successful “Mrs. Carter World Tour.”
Prior to that appointment, I was responsible for all the above, working for the international recording artist and iconic performer, Beyoncé and award-winning designer Tina Knowles as head of marketing and creative services for their company, Beyond Productions, a division of LF USA for eight years. There, I utilized my ability as a 360° creative marketer to holistically support the company’s three fashion brands, House of Deréon, Deréon and Miss Tina by Tina Knowles, creating purposeful and appropriate communications, brand and integrated marketing strategies. I served as brand ambassador and celebrity liaison, successfully directing touch points that included: PR, advertising/branding/collateral, special events and projects (ranging from fashion shows and store events to TV appearances, film screenings and costume installations), online messaging and promotions, shop roll-outs, brand launches, ecommerce development and strategic partnerships with third parties to promote brand awareness, sponsorships and alternative distribution channels.
Prior to joining Beyond Productions, I served as Marketing and Public Relations Director for T-N-T Marketing and Communications Agency, where I was responsible for the brand strategy and development, PR, ideation and special event support for clients and companies in fashion, media and entertainment industries. Clients included: Dana Buchman and Lafayette 148 fashion brands; Caribe News and Mix 105 Radio media outlets and actors, Robert DeNiro and Toukie Smith.
Previous to Beyond Productions, I served as VP, Brand Marketing at Ecko Unlimited and as the Director of Marketing, where I worked with Sean “P-Diddy” Combs, to launch his namesake fashion collection, Sean John. Prior to that appointment, I served as VP of Public Relations and Advertising for the iconic San Francisco based clothing brand Esprit de Corp, and Director of Public Relations and Advertising for fashion company, J.G. Hook.
Earlier in my career, I was employed as a unit publicist for Warner Bros working on the artistic documentary “Listen Up, The Lives of Quincy Jones”, and as Art Director and Direct Mail Manager for Gimbel’s department stores, Catalogue Group advertising agency and Double Day Books.
Most recently, I served as Head of Public Relations and Special Projects, where I was responsible for internal communications and marketing strategy to support all media efforts and special projects for th
