My name is Byron José Sun, and I'm an educator, writer, and photographer in Oregon. My life is composed of millions of little pieces that I’m continually arranging to understand myself better.

- In 1986, I was born into poverty.

- When I was 1.7 years old, I became an immigrant.

- At the age of two, I became an Illegal Alien.

- Before the age of ten, I was deported from the US with my mother and brother.

- I spent four years in Guatemala, seeing the reality of poverty in its pure raw form.

- In 1999 the US pardoned my mother and me.

- We flew to Oregon, where I became an ESL student.

- When I finished 7th grade, I failed all my classes.

- I graduated high school, and a few months later, I read my first novel.

- In 2008 I almost dropped out of college.

- Master’s degree in Creative Writing DONE.

- Becoming a teacher changed my life completely.

- Second master’s degree DONE.

- In 2020, the pandemic hit the world.

My past has violently pieced together the passion of my human sorrow and the struggle of my greater souls. I have been given the gift of creativity, and with it, I want to promote a vision of humanity, compassion, and sacrifice. I am a strong believer in ‘Spiritual Socialism’ and equal access to knowledge for all.

Below you will find what I’ve been able to pieces together of my story:
