Over the years, Byron Parra, a consummate educator and basketball coach, has also served as a dedicated community leader. An individual passionate about youth and sports, Parra volunteered for 10 years as the freshmen and JV boys' basketball coach at Thurston High School. By emphasizing discipline and teamwork, Byron Parra led his student-athletes to multiple winning seasons. Not only has he focused his energy on instilling valuable life skills and work ethics in his athletes, but he has also managed and designed the basketball program's website. In addition, he developed the Thurston Youth Basketball feeder program, which prepares middle school students for high school-level basketball. He also planned and managed the program's tree-recycling fundraiser. Byron Parra is an Eagle Scout and continues to support the Boy Scouts of America. He has also volunteered as a math tutor for students in need of extra support.
For five years, Byron Parra excelled as a math teacher in Springfield, Oregon, offering a fresh, dynamic approach in the classroom and creating an environment conducive to success and positive learning experiences. Currently, Parra applies his leadership and dynamism to the business world. Owing to his background in economics and business, he recently joined Advanced Performance Group in August 2012. Also located in Springfield, Advanced Performance is a consulting and learning firm that focuses on sales performance, business acumen, and results. In his role as partner, Parra leverages his broad base of skills to help clients achieve their desired business results.
Prior to embarking on his career path, Byron Parra studied business and economics at the University of Oregon. Upon receipt of his Bachelor's degree, he attended Pacific University in 2007, where he obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching.
