Caitlin Murphy
Student in Boone, North Carolina
Hi! My name is Caitlin Murphy. The mountains and my love for the outdoors are what brought me to Boone, North Carolina in 2015. I know now through my community involvement, and passion for the arts, that moving to Boone was one of the best decisions I ever made.
I hope that I can be an advocate for the arts with my profession. Even if I cannot make a career out of teaching dance, I plan to always have some form of dance in my life. My biggest passions are dance, and teaching others. I hope to one day open my own dance studio, and share my knowledge of dance with my students. My dance training from Carolina Ballet and Appalachian State University, has prepared me to be an advocate and teacher of dance. My dance philosophy is to always have a positive attitude towards dance, to allow for self-expression, and to have dance be accessible to everyone.
In addition to my love of dance, I really enjoy writing. As a former public relations student at Appalachian State University, I have learned how to write well. Being clear and concise is key, and my writing skills have opened many opportunities for me. Using my writing and public relations expertise, I have created a social media campaign for the rockabilly band, The Straight 8s. I have also created a media kit for ASU’s dance department. In addition, I have worked with ASU biology professor and researcher, Dr. Shae Tuberty, on a feature story, press release, and bio/fact sheet. All of these experiences have helped me become a successful public relations professional, with a passion for the arts.
