Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Perth – Legion 13 Black Belt
In 2008, Crimson attended Gracie Barra in Cannington (now called Legion 13). When Crimson started BJJ at Legion 13, he was heavily overweight and was looking for a lifestyle change. At the end of his first trial session, he signed up with Legion 13 and has not stopped training since. When he started he was a white belt. After more than 12 years of consistent training, he was honored in December 2019 to receive his Black belt from Professor Grayson West (Legion 13 sensei).
Learning BJJ has taught Crimson humility, patience, and perseverance which develops over time, as BJJ cannot be learned in a day. Crimson understands that there will always be someone faster and stronger than you. BJJ will enable you to respond by use of leverage and timely positioning, which will result in submitting your opponent. Everyone has their own style, but Crimson will identify where there can be room for growth to increase a person’s creativity and skill. At C2 Martial Arts Academy, Crimson will teach you the BJJ Basics which will be taught with a Gi (kimono) and No-Gi.
He has worked closely with his sensei, Grayson, a world champion and a professor in BJJ for many years. Crimson has become a multiple Champion at State and National levels in Australia, in his division. He has also trained with many international world champions such as Mendes Brothers, Andre Galvao, Eddie Bravo, and Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes.
Having taught his young stepson and daughter BJJ, he has instilled self-confidence, discipline, and respect into their world. He has also had a positive impact on their lifestyle getting them outdoors and teaching them self-defense skills. He has mentored many students, of all levels, throughout the years making a significant impact on many lives.
After almost a decade of training, Crimson has accepted an opportunity to take over the Northern suburbs Legion 13 academy, in Ocean Reef (5 minutes from Joondalup). With him, he brings years of experience and dedication, passion, personable nature, and supportive teaching style.
Crimson hopes to continue to pass his extensive knowledge on to others and to create a family friendly, safe and a respected atmosphere in our gym.
