Carla Gonçalves

Carla has recently finished her master thesis about the European Landscape Convention. As a landscape architect, she is passionate about the relationship between landscape and spatial planning.
Since she graduates, she has been working in spatial planning, at different scales, in Portugal. With five years of experience and participation in several projects, Carla has a multidisciplinary background in landscape architecture and urban planning, as well, in management and coordination.
Carla has worked with private offices, universities and government and as an active citizen she has been working, as a volunteer, with different NGO’s.
In her research, she concentrates on the complexity of the European Landscape Convention, as a fundamental treaty to achieve unity between different countries for the purpose of protection, management and planning of landscape. She believes that landscape contributes to the formation of local culture and it is a basis component of our heritage, contributing to human well-being. She has presented her research in several countries, as Russia, Germany, Ireland and Turkey.
Carla was born in Porto, Portugal and she loves photography and cooking. In the future, she dreams to be able to travel around the world.
