Cade Thomas
Student and Waiter in Texas
About me
I'm Cade Thomas and I was born in Dallas, TX. I currently go to Royse City High School as a junior and am going to graduate in the class of 2023. I know a lot about computers, planes, and engineering. My career goal is to become a pilot, and travel the world.
Literacy in today's tech
Today's technology is a whole new world when it comes to literacy and lingo. Emojis, abbreviations, and culture completely change the game. In online chat rooms, it's no longer about writing long, perfectly formatted emails, and more about getting the intended emotion and message across easily. People will shorten words or phrases to pass a particular emotion or phrasing. Ex: LOL meaning laugh out loud. This can be literal or have some emotional or non passive meaning, like toxicity. Shortening words or phrases can be used to an advantage, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. Language becomes more efficient and different cultures form online. General emotions that aren't able to be expressed in a short message allowed for today's culture to be able to develop certain emotions tailored to lingo used in a short online message.
