Cagla completed her high school education in Izmir, Turkey as a graduate of Izmir American Collegiate Institute. She then moved to Istanbul to earn her Bachelor's degree from Marmara University on Political Science and International Relations while completing her dual degree on Politics at Stockholm University (SU), Sweden. Awarded with Fulbright scholarship, she pursued her Master of Arts studies at New York University (NYU), majoring on International Political Economy and International Relations.
Upon completing her MA studies, she started her journey for a PhD at Koc University in Istanbul on International Relations. Her research interests lied within the scope of International Relations and International Political Economy, on topics such as economic development through the complex interaction between multinational companies, international organizations and civil society institutions. She has presented her studies at world-known conferences such as ISA and IPSA and she has co-authored articles for various journals.
She has combined her academic knowledge with practical skills while working for Deloitte, UNDP, American Chamber of Commerce in Turkey/American Business Forum in Turkey, GIZ GmbH and Cisco Systems in Turkey, assuming roles and responsibilities on corporate communications, corporate social responsibility programs, community relations, strategic partnership building and external affairs, and events management.
She also acts as Vice President for Fulbright Alumni Association in Turkey.
