Wanderlust- (noun) a strong desire to travel.
Ever since I first stepped foot in an airport I have been addicted to travel. I can remember being wide eyed just watching people hustling to catch their flight to their next adventure. I always loved going on family vacations, but I couldn't wait to get the opportunity to explore a foreign country on my own and that opportunity presented itself last winter break.
About a year ago I received my acceptance to the Business in Italy program through Isenberg. My winter break was filled with pasta, wine, and some of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. It was a dream come true to spend one day walking around the Colosseum in Rome to spending the next day at Ponte Vecchio in Florence and then the next at a beautiful winery in Tuscany. At the end of the two weeks I had visited four Italian cities (Rome, SIena, Florence, Milan), but all I could think about as I arrived back in Boston was when I would be able to get back to Europe again.
Since I am an accounting major I need 150 credits to graduate, so taking trips like the Business in Italy trip is a great way to earn more credits. My future plan is to take part in the Isenberg Summer Abroad trip this summer, which is three weeks long. I will spend my time in London, Paris, Verona, Venice, and two more European cities of my choice. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity and am already planning everything I want to once I arrive!
As an accounting major, I realize a lot of people may not associate the major with the opportunity to travel. However, in talking to individuals I have found this to be untrue. Many accounting professionals spend time overseas on differnet projects and this is just one of the reasons I have chose accounting as my future career. This summer once I return from Europe, I hope to be interning at a Big Four firm in Boston which would complete the summer of my dreams.
