Janice Cairns

I was born in Ayrshire and for the last thirty years I have lived in Edinburgh. For the last ten of those years I've lived a 'literary life' in Edinburgh realising that jobs in the advertising, legal and secretarial worlds were not for me.

On a daily basis I write. This can be writing to add to a novel in progress or writing to be added to one of my many diaries. As well as creating novels I am also a diarist. On a daily basis I read quite a lot also. I find the books of other writers provide stimulation and inspiration.

When I am not reading and writing I like to take long leisurely walks by the coast. One of my favourite hobbies is to take photos of the sea and the sky when I am out walking.

I also like to spend time in the city, looking through clothes shops and book shops. I like to meet up with friends in the city, spend time with them, maybe go see a film with some friends. Also like to dine out with friends. I enjoy good conversation. I also enjoy good music.
