Curating Caitlin
Phoenix, AZ
Caitlin Dichter, a native of San Diego, has long been a lover of everything cultural. She studied abroad in high school for the year in France. Earning a BA from Brandeis University, she majored in Classical Studies with a focus in Art and Architecture, and in European Cultural Studies (an amalgamation of history, art, literature, and politics focused, of course, on Europe). She also minored in Anthropology and Politics. While initially this was to lead to a profession in law, her passions drew her further into the world of cultural studies.
In 2010, Caitlin enrolled at George Washington University seeking a MA in Museum Studies. She maintained an independent focus within the museum while in the program. This allowed her to learn about all aspects of working in museums from curating a show, to conserving an object, and even running a historic house museum. While her initial drive was to focus in Classical Studies, following her undergraduate career, she moved more into the world of Decorative Arts, a development that spawned from her undergraduate thesis on the 'Effect of the Rediscovery of Pompeii on Neoclassical French Decorative Arts'.
Caitlin is currently living in Phoenix, AZ with her husband while he receives his PhD in Archaeology from Arizona State University. She is enjoying this new phase of her life and is always on the lookout for the next cultural endeavor for her to explore in the new city.
