Caitlin Begg

Founder in New York City

I founded Authentic Social in 2016 after writing my undergraduate sociology honors thesis on how digital communication affects relationships and social interaction. Authentic Social creates and implements sociotechnical systems strategies for business-to-business technology companies and law firms, starting with each organization’s approach to digital and physical conversation.

Concurrently, I am conducting ongoing independent sociological research, with a focus in technology's effect on conversation and sociotechnical systems. Some further areas of focus include asynchronous communication and hypercommunication; the future of work; artificial intelligence’s impact on conversation; youth and wellbeing. Research featured and to be featured in conferences across the United States and Europe beginning in May 2023.

Some of my other interests are film photography, dérives, vintage collecting (including out-of-print technology and history of the internet magazines), rowing, and triathlon (Half Ironman finisher at 14, Ironman Lake Placid finisher at 18). Go Jets, Mets, Crimson, and Heels!
