I'm a writer and university professor at York University, Toronto, Canada where I direct the Augmented Reality Lab in the Faculty of Arts, Media, Performance and Design at York. I am an Associate Professor of Cinema and Media Arts and held the Canada Research Chair in digital culture for the past decade. A co-founder of York's Future Cinema Lab, dedicated to the exploration of new stories for new screens, my primary research investigates the future of narrative through explorations of interactive storytelling and interactive cinema in Augmented Reality environments. Current research interests also include digital archiving, lifelogging, data visualization and experimental game structures for storytelling. I construct and theorize spatial narrative environments. I create international award-winning work in hypermedia, augmented reality and virtual reality.
