Caitlin Shea

My name is Caitlin, I am a recent graduate from the College of Wooster with a degree in Communications.

I was born and raised in Darien, Connecticut. Growing up, I was involved in a number of extracurricular activities, however I did not discover my true passion (swimming!) until I was almost 12 years old.

I started swimming for the Country Club of Darien the summer before I entered 6th grade and loved the sport so much that I decided to join the New Canaan YMCA Caimans swim team the following fall. Three years later, I joined the Darien High School girl's varsity swim team.

In 2011 I was recruited to swim for the College of Wooster. I swam the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle my freshman, sophomore, and junior year. Senior year I decided to swim the 1650 freestyle instead of the 100 because I wanted to earn more points for the team. Swimming, however was just one of my many extracurricular activities in College. I also had a campus job and was a member of a sorority.

My Wooster experience taught me the importance of balance, organization and efficiency. Swimming was my entire life in high school. I swam before school, I swam after school, and I traveled on weekends. I still devoted a significant amount of time to swimming in college, however I learned that swimming was not my only passion. I became involved in Kappa Epsilon Zeta during my junior and senior year. I served as both the Alumni Coordinator and Athletic Director. I knew the time commitment would be difficult with school, work and swimming but also wanted to experience life outside of swimming.
