San Francisco Bay Area
To become, or not to become, an entomologist? That was my childhood question. Well, a short story about a psychotic cockroach replaced my insect collection and I just completed my third novel.
Born in northern California to a Samurai mom and Viking dad, I was mom's only child. With few friends around, and no siblings to fight, I fought boredom with a imagination and hobbies.
Fresh out of high school, I played guitar and wrote music and lyrics in a garage band. In 1995, I enrolled at UCSD and wrote my first novel. I got my beatnik on, co-hosting a weekly poetry reading at a coffee house in Ocean Beach. After graduating cum laude with a degree in political science, I got an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business.
In 2008, I went to Japan to teach English. In Okayama, I wrote my second novel "893 Crows" followed by its sequel "The Sword Collector".
"Katsaridaphobia", a short story set in Nagasaki, placed first and third in literary contests.
In summer of 2013, I completed "Deadwood Tree", a Gothic horror novel for the NA market.
I negotiate and write service contracts for a living and reside near San Francisco (if you hadn't guessed).
