Caleb Minson

Filmmaker and Musician in Rhode Island

Born on January 12, 1982, in Freeport, Illinois, Caleb Minson’s early life was steeped in music and theater. When he was 8 months old, his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he was raised. By age five, Caleb was playing drums, and soon expanded his musical talents to the saxophone, trumpet, and bass guitar, performing in his church band. His passion for music extended to songwriting and singing during his teenage years, laying a strong foundation for his creative journey.

Caleb’s artistic interests deepened during his teenage years when a young Yugoslavian artist, Sinasha Petrovich, lived with his family. Inspired by Sinasha’s talent, Caleb began drawing, a skill he revisited in 2018 at New England Institute of Technology, reigniting his passion for visual art.

After high school, Caleb moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2004 as a sonar technician on a submarine. His time in the Navy, with its global deployments, taught him discipline and perseverance—qualities that now influence his creative approach. After leaving the Navy in 2017, Caleb returned to his creative roots by studying Digital Media Production at New England Institute of Technology, later earning a Certificate in Film and Video from Full Sail University. This education sparked a passion for filmmaking, leading to work on short film projects and a feature film screenplay.

Since 2017, Caleb has also found a rewarding outlet in sports videography, freelancing for Hoop Brothers and capturing the energy of high school basketball camps under the name Action Reel Sports. This work merges his technical skills with his artistic vision, offering a dynamic perspective on youth sports.

In September 2023, driven by his love for animals and a desire to give back, Caleb began volunteering at Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary. While this experience doesn’t directly influence his artistic work, it contributes positively to his mental well-being.

Whether through the lens of a camera, the keys of a piano, the strings of a bass guitar, or the stroke of a pencil, Caleb continues to explore and express his creativity, leaving a lasting impact on those who experience his work.
