A 15 year arts educator at the intersection of interactive performance and community activism, I am always seeking ways to get strangers connecting to each other in meaningful, creative ways.
This has led to innumerable conversations in grocery store lines, in subways and (yes) in public restrooms. It has motivated me to teach in classrooms in the South Bronx, using kite-building and flying to engage high school students around geometry and trigonometry concepts in a creative way. It has taken me to the streets of the Lower East Side as an interactive performer with Live-In Theater, engaging the audience in telling the story of the play WITH me. And has finally, birthed a Movement- the Guerilla Haiku Movement, to be precise, a Creative Placemaking tool that has engaged strangers in 50 cities across the country in conversation using the simple, structured and powerful tool of haiku.
I wish to connect with museums, community arts organizations and festivals interested in increasing engagement in their events and hosting a Guerilla Haiku Program. I want to empower educators to use Guerilla Haiku in their classrooms to activate their students wholeheartedly around literacy. And am always looking to connect with other Creative Placemakers of every ilk.
If you are an innovative designer or developer, dedicated to building communities and creating replicable systems for those communities, would love to hear from you!
All are cordially welcome to drop me a haiku, anytime!
