I am a writer, healer and future acupuncturist. As a scholar-practitioner of Yoruba diaspora religion, I focus on ontology and theology. Since 2016, I have worked to connect initiated elders to those interested in Yoruba religion by coordinating lectures and publishing books for the general public.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, I have transcribed and translated two manuscripts with renowned Candomble priestess and revered elder Dona Cici, Nancy de Sousa. This special woman has devoted decades to studying the history and culture of her Afro-Brazilian ancestors, and devotes her time to passing on this knowledge to under-resourced children in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. I interviewed her last year and published her first book in English, with proceeds from book sales going to her and the children she teaches.
I have developed a signature course and two mini-courses integrating my studies of Africana Studies with Daoist energy healing. These resources support open-hearted activists in rooting their organizing in ancestral reclamation and remediation. Readers can dive further into this work in my upcoming book, to be published in 2023.
