I am a freshman in high school and I love music more than anything on the planet. A lot of people my age don't know what they would like to do with their life (we all know playing professional sports is just a dream), but I have it figured out...mostly. I know for a fact that I will be a musician but music is such a large industry. I haven't figured out if I will be primarily a composer or performer. I would love to do both (Elton John and Taylor Swift are examples) but anything can happen in the music business. I am a percussionist in my high school's Wind Ensemble (the top band) and for my first marching season I was on the snare line. In two years my goal is to be center snare, drum captain, and 1st chair in the during concert season. Outside of band, my school life is wonderful: I boast an extensive amount of wonderful friends and grades that exceed most of theirs. I attend an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School and intend to sign up for the program my junior year as it is not available for freshmen and sophomores. I am currently enrolled in the Pre-IB class Research and Technical Writing (R&TW)/Philosophy. R&TW spans the first semester and during the second half of the year I will be taking Philosophy. IB courses are supposed to be much more difficult than the regular classes but students recieve an IB diploma because of them which grants them roughly twenty-four college hours (most of their freshman year). An IB diploma would also look great on a resume. That is the appeal. There are four graduation plans at my school: High School Program (twenty-four credits), Round Rock Recommended (twenty-six credits), Magna Cum Laude (twenty-eight credits), and Summa Cum Laude (thirty-two credits). I am aiming for Summa Cum Laude and I am aware of the difficultites of participating in IB, Summa, and three periods of band (two regular band classes + jazz band). At home, I enjoy playing the piano and drumset, playing video games, reading, Netflix, and what I like to call "random-internetness" (which isn't really as random as it sounds). I used to play soccer but had to drop it for band. I miss it very much, especially getting to see my soccer buddies. 2222 characters, BOOM!!
