I'm a financial advisor and cofounder of Iron Ridge Advisors, an independent firm helping rural American landowners defer capital gains tax through Delaware Statutory Trusts and 1031 exchanges.

Most of my work is with second and third generation ranchers, farmers, and landowner families across Texas, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and the Central Valley of California. By the time these families call us, the decision to sell has usually already been made at a kitchen table. What's waiting on the other side is often a tax bill big enough to take 30 to 40 percent off the top of a lifetime's work. Credentials: bachelor's from the University of Southern California, master's in Real Estate Development from the University of Utah, FINRA Series 7 and 66 through Arkadios Capital. Every DST offering we place runs through independent third party due diligence before client capital is committed.

I also help run R5 Homes alongside my father, Al Rafati. R5 builds single family homes in Utah with a built in second income unit, designed so new families can afford the mortgage by renting out the downstairs.

Outside of finance, I write music. Under the name Rafferty, I wrote a song featured in Apple iPhone 6S commercials worldwide.
