Hey! My name is Camilo Arango and I am a political science student here at UGA. Although I love what I am studying I have many other interest and hobbies. I love music and have played the saxophone for about seven years now, and I also love to travel and have been to every continent except Antartica now. What many people don't expect from me is that I have been dancing for about four years now and love to do it while also competing in winter guard and DCI. My love for dance came from my participation in winter guard and DCI, an activity in which apart from spinning flags and rifles I get to dance. Not only has my passion for these interest developed me physically and mentally, these interests have let my confidence grow exponentially in everything else I do. As I grew up with these activities around me it was hard to not let what others said about them being "girly" pursuits affect me, but in the long run this taught me so many valuable lessons about what it means to be yourself and to have confidence in yourself. This activity allowed me to develop my own feeling of self worth and masculinity with a group of amazing and talented peers and instructors surrounding me. As I continue with the activity into my adult life I hope to perform with a group on a professional level and continue to grow here in Athens where I am taking dance classes. This art form allows me to relax while staying fit and also furthers my love for music through movement. I hope to continue pursuing my passions here in Athens as I further my education and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.
