Come explore an historic, charming, Victorian Era Gold Rush town and surroundings from our 4 bedroom 2 bath retreat located a short 10 minute drive from historic downtown Nevada City. Our neighborhood lake is a short stroll away from our front door.

There are 4 complete seasons here. Each one is distinct and unforgetable.

Spring rains bring a renewal to the surrounding forest and wildlife. Eagles, ospreys, deer, fox, bocats, geese and the occcasional bear or two are native to this area of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Summer brings warm to hot days with magical twilight evenings that seem to fadeaway with a shimmering golden light.

Fall brings warm days with a hint of a crispness in the evening air. Fall colors in the neighborhood and surrounding hills can be spectacular. Perfect time to crack the bedroom windows open at night and "snuggle up" with your favorite person or people.

Winter brings the holidays and a close to the year. Nevada City's 3 week celebration of their "Victorian Christmas" is well known throughout Northern California. We usually get some snowfall which sets the stage for this and can literally transport you back 100 years in time

Snow here usually is only a dusting at our 3400' elevation, but the Sierra storms can sometime surprise you.

Perfect time to celebrate with friends or family, enjoy a superb meal, crank up the stereo, add some of your favorite beverages, dip in the deluxe hot tub ( big enough for 8 people ), and eventually sink into the comfort of your plush bed for the night. Visions of sugarplums dancing in your head, perhaps?

If you like to use our home for your base of operations, Sugar Bowl and Boreal Ski resorts are 45 - 60 minutes away.

Reno and Sacramento are 90 minutes or less drive time from our front door.
