Canal Radiology
As a leading diagnostic facility in New York City, Canal Radiology offers the services of nine board certified radiologists, a cardiologist, a cytopathologist, and two medical physicists. With offices in Brooklyn and on Canal Street near Little Italy and Chinatown, Canal Radiology serves as a superior provider of medical imaging services. Canal Radiology provides a broad range of services, including digital mammography, ultrasound, multi-slice CT scans, digital X-ray and fluoroscopy, vascular ultrasound, dental CT scans, and MRIs. The physicians and technicians at Canal Radiology apply their expertise in identifying the best imaging test for each patient’s individual needs.
Investing in an Espree 1.5T High Field Open Bore MRI machine, Canal Radiology leads the effort in reducing the use of gadolinium as a contrast agent for MRI exams. Because the element gadolinium has been linked to the development of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, Canal Radiology sought an alternative imaging method to protect patients’ health. Additionally, Canal Radiology can minimize clients’ exposure to radiation through digital X-rays, fluoroscopes, and digital mammography.
The integration of computer imaging in the field of medical science has not only improved the quality of the images, but lowered the amount of X-ray radiation necessary to form an accurate image. The technicians at Canal Radiology serve as experts in the use of ultrasound as an alternative to radiological imaging. While not a substitute for traditional mammography, breast ultrasound imaging can distinguish between a fluid-filled cyst and a solid mass, providing an additional tool to analyze abnormalities that show up in a mammogram.
Canal Radiology also focuses on the use of ultrasound for abdominal, pelvic, and thyroid exams, helping to identify kidney stones, gallstones, liver disease, and thyroid problems. For more information or to make an appointment, contact Canal Radiology at (212) 349-5799.
