Candace Bellamy

Candace Bellamy is an Austin-based Soul/R&B; singer and songwriter. Since arriving in Austin, Bellamy has performed in several R&B; bands and appeared in the critically acclaimed "Porgy and Bess" at Zach Scott Theatre. Bellamy has also created a one-woman show, "Follow the Red Lips," which she performed in New York City and at universities across the Southeast. While in the music program at the University of Texas, Bellamy met songwriter Ruth Carter (Stevie Ray Vaughn, Brian Setzer, Robert Palmer). Collaborating with Carter, and bassist Jimi Calhoun (Dr. John, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Wilson Pickett, Sly Stone) led Bellamy to produce her first EP, "A Thousand Shades of Blue." Some of Austin's elite play on the EP including Denny Freeman on guitar, Jimi Calhoun on bass, Frosty Smith on drums, Mike Thompson (Eagles) on keyboards, and Bill Carter on acoustic guitar. Also included is a song co-written by JJ Plasencio (Sixpence None the Richer) which features his acclaimed work on the cello.
