Carina May is passionate about people! She has an energetic spirit and is dedicated to providing clients with personal attention to achieve desired project results. For over 15 years, Carina has worked as a communications consultant, account executive and project manager with several high profile clients, including the National Commission on Digestive Diseases, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues. Other organizations she has recently worked with include The Myositis Association, the Waste Management Symposia, and the Community Associations Institute, among others.

In 2016, Carina merged her marketing company, C. May & Associates, with Smith & Harroff (S&H) and formally joined the firm as Executive Vice President and Co-owner. S&H was founded in 1973 and initially established its reputation as a highly successful political consulting and advertising agency known best for winning seemingly “unwinnable” races. In the mid-1970s, S&H also became one of the first political consulting firms to successfully transition into corporate public affairs, issue and image advertising, and public relations counseling, which now accounts for most of the firm’s client relationships. Today, S&H ranks among the most highly regarded PR and communication firms in the country.

In her free time, Carina devotes much of her energy to community initiatives. She is passionate about volunteerism and is a co-founder of Sweethearts and Patriots, an annual gala that benefits local veterans organizations. Over the years she has volunteered in the local DC-metro community in many capacities; she held a Young Ambassadors Council position with The Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health and was actively involved with Volunteer Fairfax in many local projects. Carina is an enthusiastic recipient of the 2013 President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Carina attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising Management. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and holds a Certificate in Digital Marketing from Georgetown University.
