Carine Assaf
The origin of my deep interest in education, an interest that has now evolved into an aspiration for a career in the field, happened during my last year at school and developed more during my undergraduate studies at the Lebanese University – Faculty of Education 2. I chose to be an English & Art teacher. My passion for these subjects was clearly seen throughout my private tutoring for a couple of French students who started loving the English language, and it became one of their favorite subjects. At university, I was distinguished as the creative student who always had new and fun ideas to apply inside the classroom and knows how to deal with students. I do give credit to my scouts experience as a leader for the cubs (boys between 8 and 12 years old). Scouts has been a real place for me to discover myself and my potential with kids. It taught me the values of a true leader and teamwork that are all qualities that a good teacher should possess. Without these experiences, I would have never thought of continuing my education and developing myself. I did my training in the Antonine Sister School Ghazir and in Adma International School for about a year and a half. Throughout this time, I was opened to 2 different kinds of teaching and learning. Nowadays, I work as a preschool teacher at SABIS -Adma. I also enrolled myself in an online course called “Project-Based Learning” in the University of Oregon in the United States for Winter 2011. I gained a lot of experience, and most importantly I discovered the importance of technology in education. Nowadays, we live in a world of rapid change where technology is dominating most of the fields. It is really important for teachers and students to be up to date with all the changes happening around them. Educational Technology suits my needs and talents in this area. This course (Edu 663) helped me in preparing myself to make a great contribution to the educational field in my country.
