Carley Baxter

Before algonquin I completed schooling for hairstyling, I thought this was the career path for me, as time passed I realized that it was not something I enjoyed, I was always searching for something more fulfilling and challenging. As a person who enjoys a good challenge the past couple of years I have had the desire to become an event planner and being the one to organize events people enjoy attending year round. I would like to plan a variety of different events for example: fundraisers, charity events, music festivals, sports events, work related events and as a side project planning weddings.

I am currently in my second year of the business management and entrepreneurship program at Algonquin college. I am gaining the knowledge and skills that will guide me to start my own business. I have always been an independent person so I knew I wanted to be in control of my future.

My future goal is to become an event planner and open up my own business. I am seeking to get a job as an assistant to a event planner to gain the experience to really get a feel for what it's all about and what is expected. I would like to plan events for profit and non-profit organizations and to later get into planning weddings as a side project.
