Carley Rogers, M.Sc.

Adventurer, Coach, and Educator in Winnipeg, Manitoba

I believe that as a species, humans do our best work when we authentically understand and can be empathetic to alternate points of view.

Right now, the world needs us to do some of the most extraordinary work we've ever done, together.

I have dedicated my life to creating opportunities for ‘Ah-ha!’ moments to occur because it is within those precious connections that true understanding of an alternative perspective can take place.

I have had the privilege to experience ‘Ah-ha!’ moments as:

  • A Teacher, Tutor, Coach. Within these roles I use my strengths of active deep listening, observation and reflecting skills. I ask give folks a safe space which allows them to find their own ‘Ah-ha!’s. This is what I call “Idea Decoding”.
  • An Engagement Specialist. I consult with the federal government on how to better stakeholder relationships through conversations. I prepare them to facilitate ‘Ah-ha!’s of understanding between groups with very different perspectives.
  • A Student. I am a strong believer in lifelong learning. Right now I am in intermediate French, picked up cross-country skiing this past winter and practices meditation as often as I remember to do them. I need the ‘Ah-ha!’s too with enough self-compassion to keep learning new things even if it seems hard.
  • A DIY'er. I always have at least one never-tried-before Do-It-Yourself project on the go. I am curious and creative by nature. These qualities allow me to use my research skills to look at ‘problems’ in all directions and create a creative solution to better the world.
  • A Science Communicator. After experiencing my own ‘Ah-ha!’s in an astonishingly accessible academic talk on a topic I knew nothing about, I completed an M.Sc. in mathematics (something that was not my strong suit) so I could work with and learn directly from the presenter of that talk. I received accolades for how well I was able to explain my research to different audiences - including 8 year old students and professional adults.
