I am Carlos Sotelo, a student of Spanish language and literature at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ with intentions to teach at a secondary level. I not only seek projects that challenge the social norms and my abilities in community and educational outreach, but also have a focus in multicultural studies. I have worn many hats before catching the teaching bug, but I realized education was what I truly wanted to do after acquiring my substitute teacher certificate and giving it a try. After merely taking four years off from college, I made the move back to my hometown of Morristown, NJ where I now work with the local municipality while attending school full time and volunteering with local community resource organizations. Originally from Morristown, NJ of Colombian parents, I hope to gain more experience while making a positive impact as a Latino and future educator in the world of education.
