Mr. Campbell is the President of Global 21, LLC, a strategic advisory company, and Initiative Films, LLC, a documentary film company. He serves on the boards of: directors of Resource America, Inc, and PICO Holdings, Inc, He is also a Leadership Fellow with the National Association of Corporate Directors. In 2011 he was elected to the D100, by the NACD, a group of the most influential corporate directors in America. . In 1981 he was appointed by President Reagan as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development with the U.S. Department of Commerce. He served on the President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency, and as a Member of the U.S. Department of the Treasury Task Force on Debt Management. He led numerous Trade Delegations and participated in forums in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and South America. He has held executive positions in the Administrations of Presidents Nixon and Ford. During nine years as a Naval Aviator and Air Intelligence Officer, he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was also an Intelligence Analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency HQ.
He has a Master of City & Regional Planning from Catholic University, a Diploma in Engineering Science from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School and a B.S. from Michigan State University. He completed seminars at the Harvard Business School on Making Corporate Boards More Effective, July 2003, Audit Committees in a New Era of Governance. December
2004 and Compensation in 2006.
He was born in Harlem and attended New York City Public Schools. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School at the age of 16, and was a member of the 1954 New York City & New York State Championship Mile Relay Team, and Queens County record breaking 880 yard relay team.
His experience as a Cold War aviator flying reconnaissance missions along the Soviet Union are described in the 2001 book By Any Means Necessary-America’s Heroes Flying Secret Missions in a Hostile World by William E. Burrows.
He is the author of New Towns; Another Way to Live, a 1976 Book-of-the-Month Club selection. He has given over 300 speeches, written over 250 articles published in newspapers and magazines He is a licensed pilot and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Screen Actors Guild, NACD, Michigan State Alum
