Executive and entrepreneur Carlos Joost Newbery has fostered businesses in multiple industries over the course of his career, with an emphasis on telecommunications. Most recently, he acted as President of Trixco, S.A., the first wireless telecommunications company in Argentina. In that role, he focused on creating new opportunities for the company while developing paradigms to guide the company's operations during its first decade. He also managed the company's board matters. Trixco was originally connected to Hutchinson Telecommunications Argentina, S.A., which Carlos Joost Newbery also directed for more than 10 years. Hutchinson Telecommunications introduced the first GSM (global system for mobile communications) network in Argentina.
Carlos Joost Newbery previously served as CEO of Inversiones Condor S.A., also based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The company found opportunities to invest in telecommunications, agribusiness, real estate, energy, and water treatment enterprises in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia. Newbery also founded Compania de Telefonos del Interior S.A., the first cellular company based in Argentina. The company was noted for building a huge network in the first five months of operation. As a shareholder owning 24.5 percent of the corporation's stock, Newbery also took the position of Vice President of its Board of Directors.
In addition, Carlos Newbery created Movicom Bell South, a mobile cellular operation that focused on providing service to Argentina and Uruguay while building a partnership with Bell South to seek out opportunities in Colombia, Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. In a related move, he founded Consorcio Bell Atlantic after he won the rights to privatize Argentina's national phone company.
Prior to beginning his career in the telecommunications business, Newbery studied agricultural engineering. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, sailing, and golfing.
