Daniel Carlsson

Teacher and Dancer in Malmö, Sverige

Daniel grew up in Sweden in an Argentinean-Scandinavian mixed family. He often went to Buenos Aires to visit family and friends and he heard a lot of tango allready as a child. His mother used to sing tango so when he decided to start dancing after giving up the trumpet at age of 19, tango was a natural choice. The whole family started dancing together and later on Daniel and his sister Jessica started teaching and formed a school of tango in Lund and Malmö. Some of their students later on became teachers in the school and elsewhere. Their school Tangokompaniet grew and became the biggest tangoschool in Sweden and meant a lot for the Malmöregions growth in tango. Jessica and Daniel started touring and they went to many cities in Sweden but but also in Finland, Denmark, Norway, Japan, Turkey, Greece etc. Later when Jessica decided to cut down a bit on her tango due to family and another career, Anna Sol and Daniel did many jobs together and toured to the US, Russia, Iceland, Germany and Switzerland. With Gilda Stillbäck, Daniel toured in Sweden, Italy and Norway. Daniel later on started working with Sigrid Van Tilbeurgh with whom he worked in Germany, Russia, Portugal, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. The last year Daniel has also started to work with Maria Filali in Norway, Austria, Sweden and France and with Ellinor in Scandinavia.

Students compliment Daniel for excellent skills of teaching and of seeing the students as individuals and coming up with hands-on solutions to some issues that might block the dancers from gaining connection, freedom, flow and awareness.

Daniel is also giving technique classes where students come without partner. They have been a succes in Gothenburg, Barcelona and Stockholm.

Being born in an Argentinean-Danish-Swedish family and working with several french dancepartners Daniel is used to teaching in Swedish, English, Spanish, Danish and French.
